Our Story

Jim Lombardo, the owner of Lombardo’s Sicilian Pizza, has an impressive pizza pedigree. His great grandfather came to America and opened a pizza parlor in New York, working long hours to send money back to Sicily until his 3 sons could come over. They each opened their own pizza shops, including Jim’s grandfather, who came from Sicily in the 1950s. Jim’s father worked in the family business and eventually made his way to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he opened his shop, Joe’s Pizza King on 44th Street S.W. & Division. It’s still open today.

Jim worked with his father learning the family recipe and making fresh, delicious Sicilian style pizza with its unique crust and sauce. It’s the same recipe and method of making pizza that’s been used by the family since 1957. Then, in 2015, Jim opened his own pizzeria in Norton Shores, eventually adding two more in North Muskegon and Grand Haven – Lombardo’s Sicilian Pizza.

At Lombardo’s, we do things extremely old school. No pre-making hundreds of pizza dough crusts to store in the refrigerators, no screens or conveyors to mass bake pizzas like an assembly line. Every Lombardo’s pizza is hand rolled, fresh to order, made with a bit more yeast and sugar to cook up quickly with a soft, flavorful inside and a crispy crunch on the bottom. Our unique sauce is made fresh every day. Once you’ve tried Lombardo’s Pizza, it’s sure to become your favorite pizza on the Lakeshore – or anywhere else!
